Long Tail Imagery

...I thought Chris Anderson was joking when he criticized Microsoft's Virtual Earth and Google's Earth for using popular cities imagery while ignoring rural communities in the long tail, and further suggested that the 3D data niches take up UAV drone arms in wisdom of the crowd fashion to start collecting high-resolution oblique imagery in rural geographies suffering from poor coverage.  He wasn't joking and built his own UAV drone from inexpensive materials [including a GPS phone] and encourages others to do it as well.  The geographic location of his first UAV data collection ops mission?  The Googleplex, which looks like it's getting greener with growth.
