The Partner I Need, OODA Loops, and The Lean Startup

About three years ago I was trying to start a company. Needless to say, my timing was awful. At that time, I met with the all the usual entrepreneurial community suspects in Boulder. I wasn't asking them for capital, but rather for help finding a tech co-founder I could bootstrap a company with. David suggested I draft a short description of what I was looking for in a co-founder. Here's what I wrote back then:

Extrovert | Intellectually Honest | Confident | Experienced | Ethical
You are an experienced self-starter Engineer, currently employed, with ideally 10+ years experience developing mobile/Cloud apps & services. A strong business acumen with appreciation for whole-ecosystem economics is a huge plus. On a more personal note, you need to have a passion for mobile, willingness to make personal sacrifices, live lean, and be able to adjust & adapt quickly to changing environmental conditions. Must be capable of observing, orienting, deciding, and acting quickly to unfolding circumstances the company will no doubt encounter in early-stage development.

I've since read The Lean Startup, and I'm blown away by the parallels between John Boyd's OODA Loop theories and what Eric Ries and now his followers out there are using for customer development. It's awesome to see. I suspect the chances of finding a right-stuff partner are much better these days thanks to the Lean Startup movement.
